Where it all started

Wingard’s Gooddaddy BBQ sauce got its humble start around 1983 when the Wingard family threw an old-fashioned pig picking for their family and friends. Bobby “Gooddaddy” and Ginny Wingard started planning the BBQ.

The family arranged the cooking crew, picked the volleyball teams, stacked the cinder blocks, and constructed the pit. But they still needed a homemade sauce.

Since the family comes from a long line of German immigrants, the sauce had to be mustard-based. They scoured old family recipes and started with a base called “mustard gravy” from Bobby’s mother, affectionately known as Grandmother Wingard. After much trial and tasting, the “Wingard’s Gooddaddy BBQ Sauce” was born.

Gotta have it!

Over the years, no matter how good the sides were on the buffet or how amazing the pig was coming off that old school pit, the sauce stole the show.

We started using it to finish the pig, season the hash pot and baste untold numbers of chicken halves. Friends and family always asked for just a little bit of that Wingard’s Gooddaddy BBQ sauce to take home.

Any occasion was a good reason to inquire about getting a bottle of that sauce. These very consistent and growing requests persuaded our family to decide to bring the sauce to market and make it available to the public. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Why GooDdaddy?

If you’re wondering where the name “Gooddaddy” came from, it was when - one lovely granddaughter started calling Bobby “Gooddaddy,” and it stuck. How could we not use that?

We would never tell you how to fire your pit or run your grill…

But we would all wholeheartedly say that you will finish better with Wingard’s Gooddaddy BBQ sauce.

We thank you, and so too, will your family and friends.

Gotta have it!
